Aporia

Aporia means professed but false doubt of what to say or choose.

Such amazing memories associated with this outfit.

At the age of 21, I was yet to go on an out of town trip without my family until early this year. I've always been a very sheltered person. That is until I got a licence. But it actually took me years to have the courage to leave the vicinity of my home.

Early this year, I finally got to leave Manila on my own. Well, with friends, but you get my point. Hopped on a plane and headed to the lovely city of Cebu for the Sinulog Festival. Hoping to go more into detail about my Sinulog experience in future posts. For now, an outfit post. I wore this to a party on the first night we got there called Life Dance. Minus the heels of course. But for the photo's sake:

Adunc

Adunc means hooked.

I'm hooked on life at the moment. Haven't been this happy in what feels like forever. So many changes, scary, but all amazing. There are definitely still some struggles here and there but they seem so insignificant.

So I know I said I'd be creating a steady stream of posts a few weeks back. Oops. Finding it hard to pinpoint certain things in my life to write about. So many stories to tell about career, travel, food, fitness.

Will definitely organize my thoughts soon. Maybe I can start with some of the physical changes you may or may not have noticed since my last post from last year.

As you've seen from my last post, I died my hair jet black. I've been coloring my hair brown since I was 14 so it was a pretty bold move for me to go this dark. What do you think? Most reactions I've gotten have been negative or neutral but I'm happy with the change.

I've also lost a bit of weight. It isn't as obvious as my change in hair color but I've managed to shave off roughly about 10 pounds since last year. I actually went as extreme as 15 pounds but I gained it back in the name of health.. and really yummy food. I'll go into more detail about how I did that in a future post. But before that, an outfit post:

Another outfit I wore out and about in BGC.

Apolaustic

Apolaustic means dedicated to the search for enjoyment.

For a brief period of time, work really took a toll on me and the weekend was the only thing that sustained me. The music, the people, the sunrises. I rediscovered old friendships and made amazing new ones. I honestly thought it was too late for me to meet any more significant people but I'm so glad I was wrong. There's something so special about the ease of finding connections with people in the oddest times and places.

I've been closed off for so long in my own toxic bubble that breaking free felt unbelievable. Can't help but mourn over all the wasted years. I'm pretty sure though that I crammed all the living I missed out on into 4 months.

So, to end my ramble, here's an outfit that I wore to a little place called Haze:

Algedonics

Algedonics means the science of pleasure and pain.

A mixtures of highs and lows the last year has been. Everything from devastation to complete bliss. In the last year I've had heart breaks and traumatic experiences galore, but also unbelievable milestones and the happiest times of my life.

Landing my first job, exploring cities on my own, meeting interesting people, falling in love.

This is just another outfit I wore out to a place called Aracama. Such happy memories.

Anabiosis

Anabiosis means to return to life after apparent death.

Hi, how are you?

This all seems so familiar yet I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. It's like trying to find the words when you're faced with someone you haven't seen in what feels like decades. Where do I even begin?

My last blog post was June 25th, 2013. If I were to cram everything that's happened since then into this post I'd be writing a novel. But suffice it to say, I am in a completely different place now than I was a year ago. It was a pretty rough year for me but it definitely ended magically. Experienced so many new things and met so many prominent people in my life today.

Let's just say that we have TONS to talk about. I'm definitely planning to create a steady stream of posts in the next month. Hopefully we can get back to where we left off. But for now, an outfit post is in order:

This is just one of the many outfits I've worn while I was exploring the other side of life during the near end of last year. Places I've never been were starting to feel like home. Things I used to be so judgmental about became habits and the world was mine to conquer. So here's an outfit I wore once to Hyve.

Assuetude

Assuetude means, accustomedness; habit.

So many habits I was to change at the moment.

Just an outfit I wore out to dinner with my family one Saturday night.

Atactic

Atactic means irregular

As in, it's something quite irregular to see me in sneakers. I probably only own a couple of pairs.

Don't get me wrong though. I love sneakers. How they look, and how they feel. But I never really felt like I could pull them off. Plus, I get so lazy having to bend over and tie shoe laces.

This was just a lazy Sunday afternoon outfit I put together a couple of weeks ago.

Agersia

Agersia means; quality of not growing old.

Lace is a fabric that I feel will be around forever. Found this little number at a thrift store in Tagaytay and immediately fell in love. It's kind of like a 1920's flapper dress which is why it stood out to me.

To find such an elegant and expensive looking piece in a pile of 50 peso garments was euphoric to me. And for something thrifted, it's in perfect condition and still looks brand new. There really is nothing more satisfying.

Makes me wonder what this dress has seen and gone through and who used to own it. Do you guys ever think of that when you go thrift shopping?

I wore this outfit to the Christening of my nephew a month back.

Amplivagant

Amplivagant means stretching far; having a great scope

What I wore to a friend's graduation party.

I've made a few changes in the past few months. I colored my hair a slightly lighter shade, started working out more and I also got a tan in Boracay. Yes, that the tannest I can get which makes me super sad. Hahaha

I feel like I look different though which I'm happy about. And I feel like I'm rambling and saying a bunch of things that don't matter so I'll stop now.

Revived

Oh, hello there. Remember me? Haha!

So yeah, after 3 months of soul searching and shit like that I'm back. Hopefully for good this time. Depends though, I've been MIA for so long I don't know how to start again.

For now I'll just post  a few photos from a photo shoot I had in CSB with my good friend Katrise Velhagen.

It was my first time to be shot using film, it was interesting. It was kinda hard for me because I have a tendency of making funny faces during shoots so I probably wasted a few clicks hahaha.

Absquatulate

Absquatulate means: "to decamp; to leave quickly; to flee"

So this is what I wore on Valentine's day for a dinner date at Crazy Katsu and Larcy's Cupcakerycafe.

Analgia

Analgia means: "Inability to feel pain"

This is what I wore for my little sister's annual school production. She played a lovely Puerto Rican in their adaptation of West Side Story. My sister is in the 3rd grade by the way so you could just imagine how cute it was to see little 9 year olds singing about what it's like to live in America.

When I was a youngin', I used to go to the same school as her and I can begin to explain how much I miss performing for these annual productions. I loved to sing, dance and act with my fellow classmates. Too bad that there aren't any videos that I could show you.

It was definitely depressing being the parent in the audience this time around. I wish I could have enjoyed my time in school more.

Anatreptic

Anatreptic means overcoming or overturning.

The good thing about short hair is it's so much easier to curl it with a curling iron. I never had the patience to curl my old hip length hair because just on section of hair could take an hour.

I kinda feel like Sutton Mercer or Hanna Marin in this new short and curly do.

Speaking of hair, can I just please share this hilarious video by my favorite person ever online, JennaMarbles.
Here she talks about what girl's hair say about themselves. Warning, there is very strong and vulgar language in it. But it is freaking funny as hell. Hahaha

And back to the outfit:

Grunge

Arborescent means "branched; branching; tree-shaped"

Don't I make a cute lumberjack? Hahaha

Just a random outfit I wore one Sunday out with the family.

The perfect 90's grunge outfit consists of plaid, denim and leather.

[Red plaid button down: Garage sale find][Denim jacket: Thrifted][Shorts: Vintage][Black leather boots with buckles: Leaveland]

Short Hair

Acersecomic means "One whose hair has never been cut"

Yes, I cut my hair. I wasn't really expecting it to be this short but I needed a big change so I'm happy with the outcome. Can you believe they cut off roughly 11 inches? I can't.

My hair has always been my safety net and during a time in my life where everything is changing, I think It's good for me to be more spontaneous. It's the only way I can move on from this rut I've been stuck in.

This is an outfit I wore on a job interview a few weeks back. My take on corporate/business attire.

Abscission means cutting off or cutting away.

This is an outfit I wore for a baby shower I helped organize for a friend of mine. Can't wait to see me nephew!!

Amain

New post after weeks, I've been experiencing some tremendous bad luck which has caused me to get stuck in an un-creative rut.

Been under going rabies vaccinations and even sprained my ankle which didn't heal for 2 weeks. But hopefully my horrible start of the year doesn't mean this whole year will be crap.

I don't believe in the bad luck associated with the number "13" but so far 2013 has screwed me over quite heavily. Working hard to turn things around!

Amain means: to a high degree; exceedingly; at full speed.

Just an outfit I wore out one Saturday night to Merlotte's.

If you're a True Blood fan, you're probably curious by now. Yes, there is a Merlotte's in Manila and you'd be crazy not to check the place out!

Emerald Green 2013

Achloropsia means color-blindness with respect to green

I welcomed in the year 2013 with the up and coming color of the year, emerald green. I think it's supposed to be lucky or something, I'm not really sure. I actually didn't even realize that I was wearing green till now. Hahaha

This sweater, much like most of my clothes, belonged to my mom. She has an abundance of large knit sweaters, probably from the time that she lived in the United States.

You're probably wondering how I can wear stuff like this in our insanely hot weather. I'm actually really sensitive to cold, I always need a cover up no matter where I go. Plus I was actually recovering from a horrible fever during NYE so a cozy sweater was just what I needed for my chills.

Don't you wish us Pinoy's had the license to wear stuff like this all the time? I sure do. I love winter clothes!

Agminate

Agminate means "grouped"

This is an outfit I wore last year to a high school reunion slash Christmas party. Been gravitating towards my old style, back when I was 12 and dressed like a skater chick who didn't know how to skate. hahaha
But of course this is a more mature and put together version of me then.

Atrous

Atrous means "jet black"

Here's an outfit I wore last year to an end of the world survival celebration, the End of the World Lantern Festival held in Daang Hari.

Need I say that I just added on the heels for the photo? The event was held in a grassland, heels and soil don't mix.

I find myself kind of shifting styles lately, more edgy looks like this soon.

Oh and by the way, Happy new year everyone! :)
